Just got back from a 2D1N trip to Jeollabukdo (not Jeollanamdo this time!)! We went to Jeonju early Friday (yesterday) morning and then stayed over for a night before taking the early bus this morning to Jeongeup where we climbed Mt. Naejangsan!
Jeonju City is famous for it's bibimbap so we went to Gajok Hwegwan (가족회관) for the food! Took a taxi over from the bus terminal (because we were a little too lazy to find the bus stop hahaha)
In Korea, they luvvvvv giving lots and lots of banchan (반찬) not that I'm complaining but we don't really know how to eat a lot of the banchan although some of it is really nice! Haha and they're also refillable which is like whooooo.
Photos from my Olympus Pen the quality (in food pictures) is just SUPERB omg I was half a food photographer on this trip lol.
Super super good looking egg thing that was fluffy but it looked better than it tasted, honestly |
Supposedly the raw beef bibimbap but it looked like Jeonju bibimbap |
We ordered two different bibimbaps (one Jeonju bibimbap and one raw beef bibimbap) to share but we couldn't tell the difference lol it was all the same to us until I googled and realized that one was supposed to have raw beef - that we still didn't manage to find.
Walked around a bit afterwards and started making our way towards the Hanok Village where we would be staying for the night!
Catholic Church in Jeonju! There's some history behind this but I can't recall right now |
Then we got hungry and stopped for dumplings/mandus/baos. Lol
Went to check-in to our hanoks after that! No photos because it wasn't very Hanok-ish looking but good enough. Had dinner in one of the restaurants inside the Hanok Village.
We had ice cream before dinner and ate it while watching the sun set hahahah but photo of that ice cream is in my phone so no upload!! Cos I want this post to be full of high quality food photos HAHAHA
But the ice cream was really good!!! From an ice cream stand/shop inside the Hanok Village itself. Super nice, I got myself milk cookie flavour while my friends got green tea.
Had this pork and beef thing and wow the pork was so soft and nice!! The beef (bulgolgi) was really really reallylylylyly good too. And there was a tofu banchan that tasted like WHAT MY MOTHER MAKES. Omg. Reminded me of home. We asked for refills for that because Cheong's mom also made that :') hahahaha
Okay abrupt end to this food post because we got super full and stopped eating after drinking some Jeonju makgeolli (which tasted kinda bad actually lol).
Next up: My 단풍 (dan pung, autumn foliage) at Mt. Naejangsan :')
