Autumn In My Heart ♡

단풍 aka Autumn Foliage

The sole reason why we decided to make the trip to Mt. Naejangsan was because of the autumn foliage. Kinda. And also cos I like climbing mountains (thank goodness there are friends who don't mind climbing mountains with me hahaha) and have always wanted to climb mountains in Korea.

Anyway because the previous trip to Mt. Seoraksan was such a complete failure with the leaves being so confused and unsure of whether or not to change their colour for autumn (seriously!!????), Mt. Naejangsan was a must go!!!!


At the bottom of the mountain we saw lots and lots of pretty autumn leaves - basically it was a mini park? Loads of tourists were dropped off there to appreciate the autumn foliage, I highly doubt they climbed Naejangsan at all hahaha

And then we "assaulted" the mountain. What a painful experience!!!!

It was so hot we started taking off all our many layers and wore just a tshirt to climb lol. Even though it was chilly at the top, we couldn't wear our clothes because it was so hot we were perspiring. And the climb was so hard!!!! On the way up I kept wondering how the heck are we going to descend because it was so steep haha. But we'd see kids climbing with their families and be all "If a kid can do it, so can I!!!!!"

So that was our mantra (or at least for me) while ascending the freaking mountain.

Also, we saw people eating cup noodles and picnicking - basically just having a good time, while we clutched our jackets (cos our bags were bursting lol) and hungry stomachs. Ok I had bread and the rest had some food with them but that was all. Lol. The Korean families had kimbap, kimchi, acorn jelly and the likes!! Hot water for cup noodles etc. Woahhhhhh

Lol can't even see humans clearly at the peak!!

Then our aim was to climb/walk towards Seollabong peak but woahhhh the climb is NO JOKE. I kept wondering to myself if I might accidentally fall over into the abyss (cos we really can't see what's down there at all lol) and what if I got stuck somewhere like I couldn't get myself to get down? I'd be holding everyone up!! It was really busy/full of people at the peak too.

There was one part where I wasn't able to reach the next footing lol and this ahjumma shoved her hiking stick at me to grab hahaha it was kinda funny!! But thank goodness the guys all waited for me/or maybe we have similar fitness levels? HAHA kidding but phew we made it.


And I slipped only once on a wooden step BUT I didn't land on my butt ahahaha I ended up in a half-squat position lol.

I wished I'd taken more photos though!! Not of the fog but more of the pretty autumn leaves hahaha


Autumn really is my favourite season. And it's kinda like my first time experiencing it!!!!! Such a pity that Autumn is such a short season (like Spring), sigh. Soon the leaves will be dropping off the trees - I better go out to look at the trees more often hahaha
