Yep, made my student Visa a few Fridays back and collected it on the following Wednesday. Pretty fast, I supposed, and rather efficient because a collection slip with a stipulated date was given to me on the day itself.
This was pretty straightforward. I found a very very good blog online (here) that was extremely informative. Basically the things required to make a student Visa (aka Overseas Study D-2 Visa) are:
- Passport (original) - they take it from you to stick the Visa sticker thing in
- Photocopy of passport information page
- Completed Visa application form - you can find this on the website here
- Bank statement
- Photocopy of 3 months transaction record of bank account (ie your passbook record)
- Birth certificate - I brought the original and photocopy, and the woman took the photocopied version
- Certificate of Admission (CoA) from SNU - I made a photocopy and kept the original
- Letter from NUS - they need the original
Don't worry if you don't have everything they need in photocopies because they are printers/photocopy machines and computers available at the embassy for public use - super user-friendly and clever. Also, very meticulous hahahaha
Go early to the embassy! I went there late when applying (around 10:30am after training) and waited quite a bit. Plus it was crowded and there was a lack of seats, people who came in after me had to stand around.
During collection, I was there early at about 9:30am (after morning/dawn training ha ha ha) and waited for about 10 minutes before my queue number was called.
Embassy is at 47 Scotts Road #05-01, Goldbell Towers, Singapore 228233. Hours for Visa application/matters are from 9:00am to 11:30am.
